COVENTRY, RHODE ISLAND:  May 6, 2025The “Positivity Enthusiast”, and Coventry High School Alumna, Megan (Doucette) Eddings, is thrilled to return to her alma mater this Friday, May 9th to address to the entire 9th and 10th-grade student body at 12:30 p.m.  Born and raised in Coventry, Rhode Island, Eddings remembers her time in Coventry, Rhode Island fondly and still considers it “one of the most amazing places on earth.”

A 1999 graduate of Coventry High School, Eddings went on to earn a Chemistry degree, with a Specialization in Biochemistry, from The University of Virginia.  At the time, she had no idea that her degree in chemistry, paired with the common challenge of stinky laundry, would become the catalyst for her first entrepreneurial venture, Accel Lifestyle.

Accel Lifestyle was a groundbreaking apparel line that used Eddings’ proprietary odor-resistant Prema® fabric, which is 100% source and made in the USA. The innovative Prema® fabric earned Eddings numerous accolades, including “Best New Product” by Houston’s Mayor Turner, recognition as a Top 3 Startup in the USA by Inc. Magazine, and features in prominent publications like Forbes, Nasdaq, and Fox and Friends.

Through her entrepreneurial journey, Eddings was frequently invited to speak at universities, conferences, and corporate events nationwide.  While sharing her startup story, she consistently encountered one common question from her audiences, which consisted of athletes, college students, C-suite executives, medical professionals, textile experts: “How do you remain so positive?”

Following the successful sale of Accel Lifestyle, to a company in Australia in 2024, Eddings embraced her passion for inspiring others by becoming a keynote public speaker, focusing on her impactful talk, “Pivot to Positivity”. Since launching her public speaking career, she has shared her message with marketing and advertising executives, college students, C-suite executives, healthcare professionals and now with high school students. Drawing from her life, rich with experiences, both positive and not so positive, Eddings possesses the unique ability to resonate with audiences of all backgrounds, leaving them uplifted with optimism, most likely with sore cheeks from laughing, energized, and equipped with practical tools to cultivate daily positivity.

This Friday, Eddings is particularly excited to bring her “Pivot to Positivity” message to high schoolers for the first time, starting with 600 students at her alma mater, Coventry High School.  “I remember what it was like to be a high school student and all the stress of homework, being part of extracurricular activities, having a job, and making time for fun,” Eddings shared. “I feel like high school students need to know that, with very small changes to their day, they can live a life filled with less stress and more positivity.”

Life can be challenging, and Eddings believes it is important for people of all ages, including teenagers, to know that there are quick, easy tools that they can incorporate into their daily lives, to live a more positive and joyful life.

Megan’s visit to Coventry High School also precedes the upcoming announcement and distribution of the annual Megan Eddings STEM Scholarships.  One week after her talk, two graduating seniors from Coventry High School, with a passion for science and volunteering, will each receive a $2,500 scholarship.  Eddings love and deep appreciation for her time at Coventry High School, where she fell in love with chemistry, fuels her commitment to “pay it forward” through these scholarships she established five years ago.
