COVENTRY, RI (November 25, 2025) – Finetco, A Family of Lumberyards, serving Rhode Island and Southern New England, proudly announces that Evan Finnegan has been elected as President of the Rhode Island Lumber and Building Materials Dealers Association (RILBMDA) for the 2025–2026 term.
Finetco owns Coventry Lumber in Rhode Island, as well as E.L. Morse Lumber in Massachusetts and West Haven Lumber in Connecticut, making it one of the region’s leading family-owned and operated building material companies.
Supporting Rhode Island Dealers
The purpose of the RILBMDA is to support Rhode Island building material dealers through education, camaraderie, and legislative advocacy. The association provides a platform for members to connect, learn, and grow while advancing policies and programs that strengthen the industry across the state.
The RILBMDA is widely regarded as one of the region’s most engaged and impactful industry associations. Dedicated to strengthening member businesses, the organization has developed a highly respected government affairs program and became the first state in the Northeast to secure grant funding for workplace training. The association continues to advance the industry through robust educational offerings, social programs, legislative advocacy, and a commitment to supporting independent lumber and building material dealers.
A New Generation of Leadership
Evan Finnegan represents a new wave of industry leadership emerging within Rhode Island’s lumber and building materials community—leaders who blend deep respect for tradition with a forward-looking vision for growth, innovation, and workforce development. Evan’s election signals a generational shift as the industry continues to modernize, adapt to new technologies, and attract the next generation of professionals.
Evan’s leadership is also part of a meaningful legacy at Coventry Lumber, which has a proud history as the industry leader in employing the highest number of past RILBMDA presidents and numerous recipients of “Lumber Person of the Year”.
A History of Service Within RILBMDA
Evan Finnegan has been an active leader within the association for several years. He previously served as second vice president, followed by two years as first vice president—roles in which he oversaw the annual golf tournament and clambake, both of which saw exceptional success. He has also dedicated three years to the scholarship committee and two years to the legislative committee, in addition to participating in the association’s ongoing events and member programs.
Quote from Evan Finnegan
“I am deeply honored to have been elected as the 2025–2026 President of the Rhode Island Lumber & Building Material Dealers Association (RILBMDA). Being part of this organization has always meant being part of a true family, one that competes hard every day in the marketplace but comes together to advocate, educate, and give back to the communities we serve.
My goal is simple: to take RILBMDA to the next level by strengthening our independent dealers, growing the next generation of leaders, and making sure our voice is the loudest in Providence and Washington when it matters most.
Here’s to an incredible year ahead—together, we’re unstoppable.”
Quote from Bill Finnegan
“Evan joined Finetco full-time immediately after graduating from the University of Rhode Island and made an impact from day one, joining his brothers Sean and Ryan, who were already part of the company. Having all three of my sons working alongside me—committed to building a successful future for our employees, customers, and vendors—has been incredibly rewarding. Evan’s industry involvement, and now his presidency of RILBMDA, is a proud moment for our family and a reflection of his dedication to the company we continue to grow and the industry we serve.”
Quote from David Gluck
“Evan represents exactly the kind of leadership our association needs to thrive in the challenging years ahead. He understands where we’ve come from, respects the legacy of those who built this association, and brings a fresh perspective that will help guide us forward. He brings the perfect blend of energy, curiosity, and forward-thinking leadership to his new role as board president. We are fortunate to have him at the helm, and I look forward to the progress we’ll make under his leadership.”
About Evan Finnegan
Evan Finnegan has been part of the Finetco organization for more than a decade, starting at Coventry Lumber in 2012 while still attending Coventry High School. As a member of the Finnegan family that owns and operates Finetco, he learned the business from the ground up—working in the yard, assisting customers, managing warehouse operations, and making deliveries.
While attending the University of Rhode Island, Evan worked part-time at Coventry Lumber and completed summer internships with both a contractor and a project management company, gaining hands-on experience in framing, roofing, kitchen installation, scheduling, and project coordination. These experiences gave him a broad understanding of the building trades and the needs of industry professionals.
After graduating from the University of Rhode Island, Evan joined Finetco full-time, moving into the purchasing department where he trained under longtime industry veteran Roland Bourassa. He now oversees purchasing for all Finetco locations, bringing strong analytical skills, forecasting ability, and operational insight to the role. As part of the family-owned and operated business, Evan also contributes across multiple departments, including marketing, IT, business operations, and strategic planning. He works alongside his father, Bill Finnegan, and his brothers, Sean and Ryan, as part of the family leadership team guiding Finetco’s continued growth.
In addition to his responsibilities at Finetco, Evan is active in community and industry service. He plays a key role in the Finetco Charitable Foundation, serves on several nonprofit committees, and has held multiple leadership positions within RILBMDA prior to being elected president.
Finetco’s ongoing involvement in industry development—through Coventry Lumber, West Haven Lumber, and E.L. Morse Lumber—reflects a continued commitment to leadership, community engagement, and the growth of future industry professionals.
