After Two-Year Hiatus, Georgia Peach Truck is Back On the Road; Bringing Peach State Peaches and Pecans to Maine

Young’s Greenhouse in South Paris Only Stop Scheduled in Maine

SOUTH PARIS, MAINE (July 9, 2024) — Further solidifying itself as an agriculture tourism destination, Young’s Greenhouse is proud to announce that the popular Georgia Peach Truck is making a stop at the Young’s Greenhouse South Paris location later this month and pre-orders for fresh Georgia peaches and pecans are currently being accepted.

Just like the peach crop, Georgia Peach Truck is making a comeback in 2024. The family-owned mobile fruit stand–which supplies pecans and genuine Georgia peaches directly from the Peach State– was forced to cancel its road trips in 2022 and 2023 when back-to-back crop failures caused massive peach shortages. Last year’s catastrophic failure was the worst since 1955,  yielding less than 10% of the normal crop. But, thanks to a bumper crop of sweet, juicy peaches this year, Georgia Peach Truck is back on the road once again in 2024. Its road trip started in Virginia Beach last month and will end July 30, 2024, when it makes its final stop at Young’s Greenhouse (currently the only stop scheduled in Maine).

“We are thrilled to welcome Georgia Peach Truck to Young’s Greenhouse in 2024 and to provide our neighbors with the unique opportunity to enjoy fresh, juicy peaches direct from the Peach State right here in Maine,” said Young’s Greenhouse Co-Owner Katherine Young, a third-generation member of the family-owned business. “Not only is it important for us to partner with other family-owned businesses like Georgia Peach Truck, but events like this are also part of a concerted effort to offer a robust lineup of events and workshops year-round, making Young’s Greenhouse–and by extension South Paris–a premier agritourism destination.”

Coming out of the crop failures of 2022 and 2023, Georgia Peach Truck has downsized this year’s road trip to about 70 locations. While eliminating several stops in New York and Pennsylvania, it has extended deeper into New England, with 2024 being just the second time it will stop in Maine, with the first being 2021.

“After a two-year hiatus, we’re excited we’re once again able to bring Georgia Peach Truck back to my wife’s home state of Maine,” said Georgia Peach Truck Owner Brandon Smith.  “As a family-owned business ourselves, we felt making a stop at Young’s Greenhouse, a landmark in South Paris, was a perfect fit. We look forward to making a stop there, not just this year but for many years to come.”

All of the peaches offered by Georgia Peach Truck, both conventionally grown and organically grown, are of the freestone variety, with each box containing a half bushel. The conventionally grown peaches–sourced from Dickey Farm, a GAP-certified farm in Musella, Georgia–are sweet and juicy. The organic peaches–sourced just over the Georgia border in South Carolina-offer an option for those who prefer organic.

While walk-up sales may be available during Georgia Peach Truck’s stop at Young’s Greenhouse, they are inventory-dependent and can’t be guaranteed. To ensure availability, pre-ordering online is strongly recommended. Orders must be made by midnight July 23, 2024, to be included in the delivery and can be picked up at Young’s Greenhouse on July 30, 2024, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Coinciding with Georgia Peach Truck’s arrival, Young’s Greenhouse will be offering some sweet deals as part of a huge one-day summer sale event–including Young Girls Farm fresh beef and pantry products, which are rarely discounted.

Georgia Peach Truck is just one of the many events and workshops offered year-round at Young’s Greenhouse. Other upcoming events include:
